I’ve created a layout sketch concept! Apparently, I suck with camera angles (@Crafter_Flance , where are you man :( we need ya) so the camera may seem a bit off. However, I’m proud with how the result turned out to be. I hope this helps other animators working on the game!

Yeah, the camera angles suck. Feel free to hop into the .Wick file and draw over the concept. Then, simply copy and paste the frames into the original project through a different tab.

This seems a bit reminiscent of an older idea i had

oh before we get too far, theres something somewhat important to talk about. currently we make the characters face right in their animations, and all their animations when facing left are just mirrored images of the facing-right ones. that also means that players just switch their dominant hand for no good reason, and any text or other asymmetry isn’t shown correctly.

do we not care that much about this, or do we want to fix this?

We should note this down and at least keep it in mind when we are going on…
It’s a rather small(ish) problem tho, and it won’t mess up anything too serious if we add it late.

can we please talk about how we are gonna bind our keys for single player first? ;-;

you can’t just walk up and ask for a character. you have to work on the game enough to earn a character.

Also, when designing our layouts we need to be laptop/60/80% keyboard inclusive. Most laptop keyboards don’t have numpads so we can’t use them without hindering compatibility

I do think this problem is worth looking into. I think for the left attacks there should be more moves and abilities, not just a copy and paste version of original attacks. However if there is another problem, we should focus on that first.

Ok how about this

Notes and explaination:

  • Q is to allow players to drop down from thin platforms
  • S is to crouch, the reason these are different buttons is so the player can choose to crouch on a thin platform
  • W is for selecting/interacting since SPACE is already a jump button
  • the arrow keys determine the actual attack used. For example, I press the up arrow key along with E, I produce the “up” attack for the character (eg. Baron’s spear attack)
    I can also hold jump while pressing up and then pressing E to create a “up Arial”

Sounds nice! But for the crouching, do we need to move the hitbox? I’m not the best with coding (I’m the artist and possible animator so I don’t know)
