Currently, @F1reAce is making their own base. Wick forks exist because we (the userbase) have access to the source code (the wick source is here), while Animate (modern Flash Pro.) is a proprietary codebase that only Adobe has access.

You can just watch old videos of people using flash or just install Macromedia Flash 8 on a VM (since it installs flash player).
