And so, I return

hi! you may have known me under a different alias (one which i’d like NOT to disclose bcus im embarassed of my actions, and also i cannot log in) but my current user is musicallybored!

i used to be an avid user of wick editor, and seeing what’s happening ever since i went inactive is really interesting - from what i can tell official work on wick has apparently stopped, but a fork has been made? (if i’ve got the details wrong, please do let me know!)

either way, really excited to start using wick again :)

Welcome (again) to the forums! Wick Editor did stop updating in 2021, as the creators started to get jobs. The current owner of the project is CMU (the university the creators went to), and they pretty much abandoned it since the house they put it in is more for archiving art exhibits instead of software.

The closest we have to a modern Wick Editor is Candlestick. Candlestick is (mainly) developed by the @moderators of the Wick Editor forums, and it’s a fork of Wick Editor 1.19.3 with new features such as the following:

  • Skewing non-clip objects by holding CTRL or CMD while selecting the horizontal or vertical draggers.
  • WickSound: A new sound API that lets you control individual sounds instead of everything.
  • Including an image named favicon makes it the tab icon.
  • Linear gradient support.
  • A new orange theme.

I should pipe in and say that I have created a plugin object
https://forum.wickeditor.com/uploads/short-url/9LUcKX4bs2lRWNkC1KdWntgGynT.zip
It brings with it capabilities like

  • Lip sync
  • SVG and SVG layer import (This is great when intergrated with Inkscape).
  • Citizenware style code editing.
  • Google font integration.
  • Sprite imports
  • Paralax BG creation.
  • Stopmo camera capture.
  • Auto codeing - Random, DragnDrop, Side Runner, 4 Direction, Car, Sine, Solid…more to come.
  • Clipboard pasting.
  • Texture Pens.

Plus a new fork “Wick-ED” will be available in time
