Does anyone have any tips for backgrounds in wick?
Search google for images of nature to get inpiration!
The steps I would take to draw a setting and a background:
- Think of what you want the background to be (ground, grass, lava, etc?)
- Based on what you want the background to be, find different shades of a specific color
- Equip the brush tool! Then start drawing the ground using the darkest shade.
- Move into lighter shades, and draw different layers on top of what you had last, adjust opacity
- Make a new layer, make it under the first layer, and lock the first layer.
- Based on the theme, draw objects in the background (mountain, trees, volcanoes, etc?)
- Color everything in and shade with darker colors objects that are far back
- Make a new layer under all the layers, and lock all completed layers
- Pick a color for the sky based on the theme (contaminated, dark, happy, joyful, etc?)
- Find 3 to 5 different shades of that color, and color in the sky from dark to lighter layers
(dark layers below, lighter one’s on top) - Select all of the brush paths that you have in the sky, and adjust their opacity
- Make a new layer that’s below all layers, and on top of the sky layer.
- Lock all other layers, and take one deep look at your whole project
- Decide on what to add in the sky based on the theme (bird, rainbow, smoke, etc?)
- Draw and color, and try to spread objects to cover negative space
- Add some magical touches, little animations, some sparkle, adjust opacity, etc.
