Exported animation looks horrible

Has this bug been reported already?
Nope

Describe the bug
Whenever I play my animation in the editor, it looks nice. Whenever I export it, it looks horrible and all pixilated. (Due to gray background I think)

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the bug, if you have them:

  1. Watch this: In the editor My Project1-30-2021_11-42-59.wick (54.4 KB)
  2. Export it at 1920 x 1080 pixels
  3. Compared both side by side
  4. See how the exported one is way way way, more pixelated than the real one

Expected behavior
My animation should look exactly as it does in the editor.

Wait this is confusing- It looks horrible on my end, but not when I screenshot it :face_with_monocle:

Do you have a suggested solution to this issue? (ex. has another program fixed this bug a certain way? Are you familiar with where in the code base someone would need to fix this issue?) Nope

Additional context Optional*
This is just a test animation that I made, when I noticed that one of my newest animations looked horrible. I think the reason for this is because of the gray background, because I usually use white in my animations and it looks fine. However, in my newest animation, I want it to look like it is night, so I am using a gray background.

so wait does it happen on the test editor?

edit: you want it at night…

But why do you have a sun in the animation?

I will say that the export (right) is a bit more pixellated (window size will probably matter) while the animation (left) is as good of a resolution as it gets since it’s vector. there’s some anti aliasing (or whatever it’s called where pixels look worse in some cases) on the right that might make it worse.

The colors are also less vibrant. Or just different in general, maybe in a few cases it looks more vibrant. but bottom line, they’re not the same. this part of the animation shows it best.

No, only when exported I can see how pixelated it is.

I just made this one as a test I wasn’t really thinking lol

I meant I am working on another animation that also has this issue.
So I wonder if I upload this animation to YouTube, if it will not be as pixelated…
Youtube has a 1080x1920 option (Which is what I animate with) and sometimes it doesn’t make it look as pixelated, but still it would be nice to find a way to get rid of the pixels

Is there any way to fix this that you know of?

you just have to watch it at a 1:1 resolution. if you exported a 700x500 animation, make sure the video’s window size is the same so the pixel to pixel ratio is 1:1, not like 1 to 1.13291478. i think so anyway.

Upload it as a unlisted video on youtube so we can see how the animation looks like when exported.

it looks normal! youtube probably made the quality better or its just your pc

Pause it at the 0:03 to 0:04 mark

Wait, maybe it is my laptop. Hmmm…
Let me watch it from my phone or another device

Watch this and please tell me if it is still pixelated, It got really pixelated for me around the 1:15 mark. (Its gotta be the gray background, but I have no idea why)

Its a problem with your laptop because its not pixelated on my PC. Its a bit low quality around 1:15 but other than that it looks normal

That is so bizarre! Let me go watch it on a different PC because my phone also makes it pixelated.

In youtube, there’s a settings icon.
From there, you can change the video quality.
I’m guessing yours is on Auto

Try changing that, and it should be a better quality

No, I have it up to 1080p

I just watched it on my phone at 720p and it looked pretty good, if not a bit blurry.

Oh, its good like that as a preview, but are you watching it in full screen?

Yes I am.

I watched it on my other laptop, and it was still pixelated
