I don’t know who or what waldo and becometh are (side note: I didn’t write the taglines)

(since the project was updated several times, I change the title to the post number of the post with the latest file, which is shorter than having a link)

Waldo is where’s waldo and becommeth monkey is the return to monke meme

ok, but if they’re copyrighted or trademarked or patented or whatever it is (i don’t know), we should probably remove it. it’s not important enough to get permission just to put it on a splash screen.

for now, i’m removing the splashes that are potentially copyrighted. (and i added some more)

suggestions for designing team

move the info tab away from the buttons so you can see the buttons clearly.

put the title icon thing on the transition. Maybe make the background look metallic (or something else) so that the black spikes of the title icon shows up.

@mlgcoolguys_1 i don’t think voice-acted splash texts will work well… for fun, go nuts. for the actual game, i don’t think it really works.

where is the code for falling off the map? and for hurting the player

im making a map where the ground is non existent and if you fall off the platform you lose health

you can easily make that yourself. check if the player is below the canvas. or just do it the easy way and worry about it later.

I’ll just push out another mini update to merge with some of my edits.

  • Not much has changed other than replacing TyroByte’s monitor with the one that I edited. It features a glitch transition every time it moves info screens, or even transitioning between game screens!
    …oh it has the taglines on it now in an attempt to make it less cluttered.
  • So I now separated the swipe transition into swipe_left and swipe_right.
  • I ‘fixed’ TyroByte’s problem of ‘breaking’ the character select by copy and pasting back the code that he accidentally removed… i think…

FFR_mini_update 2

  • one weird bug that I found is from my update with the taglines and infoScreen glitch transition.
    (copy pasted from a text i made in the project)
    sometimes when I simultaneously start the game and hover my mouse above and round the inside of the buttons, it causes an error about how ui_infoTab.trans_glitch() is not a function in the mouse scripts (in general).

I want to push this out so that merging the updates wont be a mess, and now I can continue trying to figure out what else to add in peace…

…also I didn’t merge it with gamer_boi’s update just in case.

Hey wait a second… is the main character a boy or girl? I haven’t wondered about that until now and I don’t want to make assumptions @mlgcoolguys_1

ok, so i put the fixes in (yes, only now :grimacing:). it helps and there aren’t any more floating hitboxes, but there are still a few issues and things to fix.

  1. the recoil thing happens when you hit the key, then the player attacks. the recoil should only take effect when the player attacks.
  2. the amount the player is knocked back in the y-direction is calculated from the x-knockback. i think it would be nice if the y-knockback was calculated differently. and maybe we can make the attacker be able to change its y-recoil thingy. (not how recoil works but whatever)

as of now, the main character is “you”, which i don’t really like because 1, it’s weird (for me), and 2, there is no good way to represent everyone playing the game with one character. a stick figure just won’t cut it, and using like 6 choosable characters to represent everyone is just more weight on the development.

So I’d suggest we speak in the third person and use a completely different character to be the “main” one because:

  • nobody will yell at us for the “you” character not being their gender, nationality, etc. since the character isn’t necessarily the user.
  • third person lets us “reasonably” fight as different characters. for example, I could be the fighter in one scene and the “main” character could be the fighter in the other scene. (i say “main” in quotes because stories can (and many do) have more than 1 main character.)
  • we can get different views if the story splits off. maybe the team split so one side is fighting glitches in a computer and the other split off to find an object that will help the team. idk i just spit those 2 ideas out randomly. if the main character is “you”, it would be very hard to smoothly transition into another person’s/group’s POV. this is very similar to the previous bullet.
