My eraser is bugged out, what do I do?

What Wick Editor Version are you using?
1.19.3

Describe the Problem
Every time I erase, it removes details from the shape of what i erased. This is a problem because I’m relying on the eraser tool for a project at school. My color dropper doesn’t work, so I can’t refill the black spaces. My cursor is always the moving tool at all times, which throws me off.

Expected behavior
I expected it to erase just fine, and to use the color picker as usual. That didn’t work.

my understanding is that the eraser is erasing more than it is supposed to. (correct me if i’m wrong)

a temporary solution could be to move the shape you want to erase away from everything else, then erase that, then move it back where it should be.

thank you so much for your help, but I don’t think thats the case. Whenever I erase, it blacks out and removes other strokes that i made around it. Its kind of hard to explain, but i’ll try my best. In the image, i erased in a straight line down, and then the black just appeared. Thanks again though.

I remember this bug, @kryptot7 reported it before back in version 1.17 (or was it 1.18?)

Here’s what this bug does:

  • This bug doesn’t black things out, but instead, it changes path objects opacity to 1 when it erases through them.

From looking at the image you shared, you seem to have path objects with lower opacity near where the eraser came - image

EX of how this works/ steps to reproduce:

Here’s a tip, use this: image
to change the opacity of a path,
it works better than using this: image
