Complete newbie here, be gentle :) I am fine in creating the animation, interactive poster, but how do I then add this to my wordpress webpage? I assume I need to publish as HTML but a bit lost after that.

In WP you should be able to publish using two different techniques: (at least!)
- you can upload the html-file, and use a i-frame and point that to the URL of the file if you want to embed it in a page
- you can just create a link to the file, that will play it in full screen
- plenty more options; depends on how you want to do it…
If you do not interactivity, you can just download a a movie and embed that… that is easier, but has less functionality…
Depends on your needs, to be short

The work needs to be interactive. I have tried just adding the html code in a html block but assuming that is completely wrong as nothing happened apart from a visual of all the code I pasted.
Should I upload all the files into the media library first in WP and then link?

I know WP has a lot of plugins/systems to build pages. But most will have a iframe-function. If you upload the HTML to media, dont link, but let the URL of the iframe be the uploaded html.
That should work.
