is there a keyboard shortcut to make a new frame or do you have to press it with the mouse every single time thanks in advance

You can use “,” and “.” ("<" and “>” but not pressing shift) to navigate forward or backward a frame, then drawing should automatically create a new frame at the current playhead position.
