yeah, that would work, probably. Thank you for thinking along! But I am using these animations in a quite complex HTML environment. I would like to change as little as possible.
For now, I am starting every wick in a iFrame and "fysically " removing the iFrame from the DOM if is being hidden, but even that is quite a lot of work to keep track of. I would much rather wick behaving a bit more aware of its environment…

In another thread I suggested to develop a wick player as browser extension and had a try at minifying the engine
I know it is not the answer at your questions but the two requests have points in common
