What (Good) fps rate should my animations be? (just found out how good 24 fps is)

I’m currently making an animation i i don’t know what fps it should be.can someone give me a good fps rate? For example:
30 fps by 2’s
40 fps by 1’s
24 fps by 2’s

idk what "by __" means (edit: i think i do actually)

i only vaguely remember what “by 1s” and “by 2s” means. i think “24 by 2’s” means you use 24 fps but animate 2 frames at a time to show the same thing. that’s basically 12 fps. i don’t know though, so I’m kinda ignoring this part.

edit: i found this picture, seems to reflect what i think.

my explanations

if I’m ready to work hard, i do 24 fps. 24 fps is a similar quality to 30 but easier. it’s smooth enough that anymore after that doesn’t do much.

my 5-hour energy animation is over 1000 frames even in 12 fps, so i use 12 if 24 is way too much. 12 is okay quality, it’s decent enough.

i think FF is something weird like 45 fps because that is what my platformer engine was at for some reason…

I’ve never done 40 fps i think. i would just do 30 or 24 in that case.

in conclusion, my goto framerates are 24 and 12.

I recommend 15 (my opinion)
Rate:
5 - Beginner - 300 frames for a minute
12 - Half Good - 720 frames for a minute
15 - Intermate (i use this) - 900 frames for a minute
24 - Good - 1440 frames for a minute
26 - Great - 1560 frames for a minute
30 - Half Pro - 1800 frames for a minute
36 - Intermate Pro - 2160 frames for a minute
40 - Pro - 2400

You can have the project give u a random fps to choose
( Just type “alert(random.integer(5,80)+" FPS")” in default)

But try playing around with the fps and pick the one that best works for u

in my head, the framerates i consider “common” for my usage and in general are:

  • 12 (wick framerate, half of 24)
  • 24 (common for animated movies i think)
  • 30 (nice even number, half of 60)
  • 48 (multiple of 24)
  • 60 (idk it just is, nice even number)

obviously, ones in between are fine.

@Hamzah_Alani while that works, i think it’s much better to at least pick a few numbers. like, animating at 37 fps makes very little sense. maybe choose from an array of numbers. besides, i think choosing a framerate at random isn’t the best way to find what’s best. it’s better to pick from options knowing your goal than to let a computer choose (pseudo)randomly.

12 is acceptable in most cases.

animation for what?
are you going to make a gif? a game intro? a game character movement sequence? a banner? a broadcast animations?
every one has his recommended framerate (Frame Per Second)

Update: Just Found Out How Good 24 Fps is.
