What happened to Wick Editor?

i’m not really good at coding do they won’t even hire me idk if they do hire people though do they?

future me, is there shape tween in this new update?

unfortunately no

they dont hire people. they’re meant to accept pull requests, but no one’s keeping track of the main repo so i doubt they’ll take any

awwww :( but what about the next update?!?!??!

if adobe animate ever gets discontinued (there’s no cc 2025 yet) we might see some updates to wick. or maybe not

ion think so

idk so uhhh when I choose a second layer when I already drew the other part I drew it did not show in front of the first part

oh okay got

damn bro i first heard about this in an old Alan Becker video

Hey, that’s how I found out about Wick, too!

Me too! He listed it as a good animation app, but the video was so old, he was using legacy Wick Editor.

How about CMU gives it to people who care about it? Colleges are ran by rich people they can afford software

Adobe would never do it. They are greedy, and would go defunct before then. I actually wish I could maybe combine flash and wick one of my own projects (maybe flash in the browser?) but thatll never happen

ive realized that for the past two months.

they did it with adobe director, too. all that potential to make a competitor to unity… vanished.

CMU hasn’t done much with Wick, but in the meantime there’s two forks: one is a work in progress and the other by @StickmanRed: https://stickmanred.github.io/wick-editor/

I think i found the game engine that can be used by ex-wicklets. It’s Kaplay.

I think even Macromedia Director wouldn’t have good enough alternative. Wick Editor is a multi-use software, not to mention it’s open source so you can just fork it if you want more features
disregard that although it is true, it seems decent for games, though
