Boolean Drawing

This is boolean drawing. This is something that I have discovered is unique to Macromedia Flash (currently Adobe Animate). It’s, in my opinion, the best and most natural way to do vector drawing especially when it involves animating. Here’s a little screen cap I made demonstrating boolean drawing.

Note that brushes of the same color “merge.” Also note that the eraser “subtracts.” Note the way fill works. If Wick Editor added this feature it would be genuinely a good alternative to Adobe Animate for people that just want to do basic animations.

Also, the “box selection” tool acts as a rectangle object that is “subtracted” from everything selected. I HIGHLY recommended all of these tools be implemented as it would make Wick a genuine and serious competitor and alternative to Adobe Animate (at least for people that just need basic drawing and animation tools).

No other program but Flash I have discovered uses this sort of boolean vector drawing and it’s the best way to do it. An old free program called “Vectorian Giatto” or something like that also did it but it’s no longer under development and it’s quite buggy and unusable anyway.

Not even Blender Grease Pencil has this much needed drawing feature.

I do agree that when brushes of the same color overlap they should merge (and that there should be a way to disable this in case you might need it). But the fill tool and the eraser tool appear to work the same way in Wick Editor-- erasing subtracts from shapes (except when a thing is isolated because of it, it creates a new shape) and fill tool fills in an area and creates a shape from that. You can also already subtract shapes from other shapes if you click “Canvas actions” on the top right. You can use this to emulate the “box selection” tool. (unless you meant something else)

Honestly I just want a clone of flash for drawing. It’s the best vector drawing tool I’ve ever used and every app I have tried hasn’t measured up to it and mostly because of the smooth and natural drawing with these boolean operations which just “happen” by their self with no need to click around. It just feels exactly like you would expect it to feel if you were actually painting. Things flow together and blend and merge.

i feel your evaluation is correct
one thing I always liked in flash was it has a very natural way to round, smooth and correct your lines. It always looked like it knows the lines you are wanting to draw

ti could be very difficult to replicate this behaviour tough

Yeah, I agree this would be great.

How did you import the .mp4

You can export but not import files.
