Bugged version of (downloaded) Wick Editor

Hello!
I am Anav, I’ve been a stickfigure animator in wick for 3 years now. I used to animate with the online version of Wick but then I realised that, It wasn’t smooth and I couldn’t preview it well. Then after downloading Wick, I started to animate better. But now, the software crashes almost everytime! And even the autosave feature won’t save it or maybe it saves it when the progress was only at initial stages. I am tired of this, and this was a major reason for me not animating much because the software bugs almost everytime now and then. I know that they might have abandoned updating the software but, is there any way to tackle it? Also, VCAM doesn’t work in the software but it isn’t a big deal as you can transfer your .wick file to online and then you can.

I haven’t tried the app before so I don’t know how diffrent it is from the website, but based on everything from other users I believe there is more pros using the website than cons compared to the app which means it is more opitimal to use the online version, than the app. We do have a website made by @StickmanRed, which you can see here https://stickmanred.github.io/wick-editor/, which is still in the works. You can view what it has here; Scratch-like cursor and here; Alternate solution to more easing styles. This may not fix the problems you’re experiencing, but it may be fixed be StickmanRed in the future.

However, as I said before, it is better to animate on the online version rather than the app, because it is less buggy, and you can actually keep your progress.

Thank you for the reply. I was able to instantly recognise you and so yeah, that’s a great help!
But the main concern about the website is that, It does NOT have smooth strokes OR a smooth preview.
(Which is expected as it’s an online website.) StickmanRed had some good solutions to problems, but my concern is that, I don’t really incur an issue with the software and it’s features; but the smooth operation of the platform itself. The software is of course, very buggy. And so the only option I am left with is the Wick on the Web.

But anyways, Thank you so much for the reply once again,
Hope you have a great day.

Yes, its a annonying how it lags with the brush when you have a big project (1080HD), and the preview has to be replayed a couple of time to get a good idea of the project.

However I do use a work-around, which is to just open a different tab (or an alternate account) and download GIF or MP4 file, MP4 being faster to upload but pixelated, and looking at the video you can see what to fix, and again untill perfection.

Although this is very time consuming, and it is very tediously done :/
I usually don’t do this because I haven’t got very big projects very often, it is just a suggestion that I think that could be helpful.

Thank YOU for replying and I hope you too have a wonderful day :D

PS: Sorry if this is a little bit difficult to understand or if it has any errors, I’m a bit doozy after a six hour outing of my house.

They stopped making offline versions. That’s why it’s broken.

I lost an entire animation that I spent a whole hour on because of how buggy it is

Welcome to the community!

To prevent that happening, you should make sure to save your animations occasionally incase anything like that happens.

Hope this helps :)

Yes your animations are so amazing, you should definitely post here so other people can see.

It was really helpful, but I won’t use it for long as using the same method for making a bit large animations is quite a hectic process. But I do appreciate the alternative for the same!!

ahh, Thank you so much DISNKD, Surely I would upload my animations there to the thread once I get time to process some decent animations to be uploaded there. (Or except if I make any good one!)
