Lame game: the lame game

i literally just took my platformer engine 2.2.2 (on my profile) and slapped a game out of it. a lame game, but a game. lame name about a lame game. lame. shame on me. yay it rhymes.

it’s not super hard, it might be a bit frustrating in a couple of places though. hope you enjoy anyway. i was gonna see who could finish it first but when time zones and activity on the forum is put into the mix, it wasn’t gonna be fair. you can do it anyway, you can send a “you win” screenshot when you beat it.

well done
your engine is solid. a very good starting point for everyone wanting to develop a good platform game.

I’d add some settings to set preferences
I always found weird in platform that you can change direction or vertical momentum while jumping
but that’s just personal view

very good work

very nice :man_dancing:

that’s the case in almost all games i think. mario games, maybe even sonic, doodle jump if you want to add that. the only game i know that restricts your momentum midair is donkey kong. it would be more realistic, but it would 1, be hard to code, and 2, be harder and more annoying to play (most of the time).

LAME

O

alright then, sure. it wasn’t meant to be some kind of cloud minecraft 5.0 game. i felt lazy and made something simple with the tools i already had.

This part is hard, specially with my keyboard, I had the “move left” very near to the “jump” button…

but, overall, well done.

You know what? I think that you are onto something here… You could expand this a little bit more and do a full game. The arrows idea is fantastic, but in some cases you could also add phrases to the player like “Now what?” instead of an arrow, so the player knows that he has to do something around the phrase, and the player has to figure what or where to go.
