Wick Editor 1.19 App Frozen (Black Screen "Please wait...")

I am currently on Windows 10 Home OS with a 5090 GPU and a Intel i7 6700k CPU. I have an HDD.

I was using the app, trying to animate when suddenly my screen goes frozen with a black screen and a text on the top left saying “Please wait…” this has happened multiple times with no reason. Most of the time it would happen whenever I tried to play my animation but it also happens randomly. This is extremely annoying since this would make me lose a lot of progress on my animations.

(the bug would also add the Windows not responding screen even though it is still interactive.)

Welcome to the forums @ifcarlos! The Wick Editor app is outdated and buggy. I recommend switching to the Wick Editor site or Candlestick.

wick editor has a bug where some combination of undoing a deletion and previewing the project results in a crash. that’s my only guess for what you’re running into. the wick desktop app seems to be kinda problematic in general so i wouldn’t recommend using it.

wick editor has not been touched since basically 2020, but the candlestick is the currently supported “version” of wick editor, maintained by a few members of the wick editor community.

if you want to read about it, check out the post linked above, otherwise you can go straight to https://candlestickers.app/. there is a downloadable version which you can find in the linked post, but it’s technically experimental.
