I know you guys are probably surprised like “wow that was quick” — it feels like it was just yesterday that we had Wick v1.19.4 and the next update is already here
That’s right! It took only about 5 years but Wick finally has an update!! Or well… somewhat of an update
But without further ado, the moderation team presents to you…
^ art by Jovanny
Candlestick is a “fork” of the Wick Editor created by this forum’s moderation team, with the help of a few community members.
You can access Candlestick through our official domain:
candlestickers.app
If you’re patient enough to not click the link before reading through this thread, allow me to introduce you to the newest features of Candlestick below, starting with…
#1: New Alignment Options
Along with the canvas actions, you will have new alignment tools that allow you to align selected objects vertically/horizontally or to a specific edge. No more “copy paste xy values” or the sort, just select and click click!
The UI has now been moved around into a more organized matter— splitting the alignment, layers, boolean, and “flip” canvas actions into 4 different dropdowns, separated from your quick use canvas actions.
See GIF below for simple demonstration…
(By the way, if you have one object selected, the alignment tools will align the object in respect to the project canvas.)
#2: Built-in Gradient Tool
That’s right! You can create gradients inside of Candlestick easily without needing any coding magic!
When you select a path object, you will have a new not-so-magical button that says:
The rest is self explanatory…
Note that currently there are only 2 gradient stops. In future update we will add more.
See video below for demonstration…
Feature added by @Hamzah_Alani with the help of @SomeoneElse’s thread: Gradient Tool
#3: Line Snapping
Hey, noticed the line tool just draws lines but doesn’t help you draw lines? Well not in Candlestick!
Now introducing straight lines and line snapping tools!
While using the line tool, hold shift key to draw a straight line, and control, command, alt, or option to enable perfect line snapping (even Thanos can’t snap this nicely)
See video below for demonstration…
#4: Runtime Console
No more need to open your inspector tools to check your code logs— now you can just find them right where the inspector used to be!
This will speed up debugging a lot.
The runtime console resets after every run to keep it clean.
Your logs history will still be visible in the code editor and your inspector tools!
#5: GIF Import [FIXED]
Hidden below is a demonstration of a GIF being imported into Wick and Candlestick with some transparent frames, where the color red represents the “transparent” parts. Wick Editor (first GIF) struggles with the transparent frames, meanwhile Candlestick (second GIF) decodes the GIF into the editor perfectly.

#6: Tab Title & Favicon
The tab title of interactive exports automatically gets set to the project name, and to set a favicon all you need to do is import an image asset, and just name it “favicon” like this!
#7: Vector Transformations
Of course it wouldn’t be complete without @StickmanRed’s shape transformation magic!
You know how it goes—
Hold control or command while resizing a shape vertically/horizontally to skew it in that direction
Hold shift while moving/rotating to move the shape in straight line or rotate in intervals of 45º
Hold alt or option while resizing to resize a shape in a specific direction.
#8: WickSound Library
If you’re a game developer, you may have found WickSound very useful, and we agree! The library is now built into Candlestick and has received a few extra features, which you can view in the Sound tab of the code editor.
To test out the new WickSound library, check out this demo project created by @Jovanny by visiting this link, or downloading it here: reference-WickSound.wick (1.3 MB)
#9: MP4 Files Decoding
That’s right! Probably one of the best features we’ve added so far, is the ability to open MP4
files in Candlestick! You open an mp4
file the same way you open a wick
file, then choose a specific framerate and the mp4
file will be decoded and automatically set up into a project, with audio if present.
^ fun fact this GIF was an mp4 exported into GIF using Candlestick and compressed online
You can then add layers and draw on top of the MP4
file as demonstrated above.
[ This feature isn’t recommended for long videos, only short ones ]
#10: Wick Layers
Like WickSound, Wick Layers received a fresh coat of paint and is now built into Candlestick.
Check the Object tab of the code editor to see what you can do!
Depth functions created using @pumpkinhead’s Send clip to front/back code
#11: Extra minor features & bug fixes
🔥 Changed theme
Candlestick comes wrapped with a new theme to give it a slightly fresher look than your everyday Wick Editor!
To cover a few of the UI changes— we’ll start off with the new beautiful asset library, and yes we fixed the “Keyboard Controller Character” name that was getting hidden behind the image, and centered the button with images. We know no one notices these stuff until they’re gone.
Along with a few other UI changes . . .

OH and of course, the preloader
actually we’re still figuring this out ourselves… you may or may not see something come up in the near future…
🎨 Fill and stroke colors swapping
Fill and stroke colors swapping by clicking s
Also swaps the fill and stroke color of currently selected objects.
When combined with the eyedropper tool, can be used to set stroke color quickly.
🎥 vcam zoom code fixed
The vcam finally exits BETA mode, using zoom code from The Perfect vcam v0.1!
The difference is very noticeable when resizing windows.
🔭 Inspector shows full options on multi-select
When selecting multiple clips, you are now able to see all the options you would expect in the inspector!
How it looked before:
How it looks now:
📜 disabled $blockScrolling message
If you have worked with the code editor, chances are that you’ve seen this annoying message many times. Well, say goodbye to it, as it will no longer show up!
👓 Script not found? FIND IT!
If an object’s script is not found, you’d typically see this message:
But in Candlestick, instead you see the first available script, and if the object has no script then instead, you’re taken automatically to the “add script” section, saving you a few precious clicks!
If the object is not a scriptable object, you will instead be met with the default “No Scriptable Object Selected” message.
🎞️ Removed thin black bars from gif/video/image exports
The annoying hard-to-notice black borders that would show up in exports have finally been FIXED!
That’s right! Before, you would see something like this—
But now, it’s

(black lines varied based on canvas size. In this example, they’re more visible on top and bottom)
And there are a lot more!
You can check out the git repository for a complete list.
(please don’t submit issues/ suggestions on github!)
Please note that Candlestick is still in alpha, we would like to ask everyone here to test out the software and join our (very super cool) Discord server where you can report any problems, request any new features, and share all the cool projects you make :0
You may also continue to use this thread to report issues and request features if you do not have access to Discord.
hey you
yes YOU
since you made it this far...
we'll give you a sneak peak at what might come next ;)
just don't tell anyone okay 🤫
