is this character a guy or girl?

Amazing design! The scythe in my opinion needs more work.

Do the players just decide or…???

Well whatever, I think she more looks like a girl so I’m going with that.

The Ice axe is sketch, i have the real design somewhere in this post.

As for the aforementioned lore…

Tryabyte is a strange character, she resides in one of the tallest buildings in the city, only second to the main HQ.
It is his residence/workplace and it acts as a watch tower to keep watch over the city for suspicious or dangerous activity, and during down times she’s supposed to do “peace-keeping duties” in other lands; Such as physically keeping entities from the Deep Dark Web (DDW) from entering the city and its surrounding area, documenting and storing of data of bugs, glitches and dangerous entities reported in other territories to send reports to either T.M. or Flambe.

His own physical appearance is curious: a nearly completely blackened, eyeless silhouette which is seemingly able to appear out of nowhere. She also displays an number of unique abilities, mainly being able to shape shift (with limitations on size and colour), immunity to most corrupting agents, access to a large number of functions (to an extent)(such as zipping files, reading hidden documents and deleting small objects) and most notably being able to store and retrieve (small to medium sized) objects by consuming and regurgitating them. Such interesting biology is questioned by many, but few know the true answers. Perhaps the player will have to play detective to learn the about who Trya really is? Or even if Trya is on their side…

Character/personality

Good Traits:
“Honest”
Good to her word
Fair
Caring
go getter

Bad Traits:
Greedy
resentful
Wrathful

That actually sounds interesting! This character is pretty well written in my opinion. The player is then left wondering of what her origins are.

this is smash bros (kinda) so is master hand welcome?

well not really, since master hand is owned by others

Wouldn’t that be stealing from Nintendo?

oh and just one more thing

@mojad , are you home?
How are you @Luxapodular ? May we have your ghost?
And thank you for wisdom, @Jovanny . May the lord bless you and keep you.

If ffr dies i’d be very sad. if i’m being honest, i feel like working on quick play would help add some steam because we can’t do much else since the first part of the story isn’t fully fleshed out, and a lot of lore elements are pointlessly obfuscated.
This can’t die. It’s too ambitious i get it but little by little we can create something amazing.
And we already have.

As for the vc, i feel as if we should do it on a weekend sometime in october.

it is worth mentioning that november and december are close to finals week for high schools etc (more december than november). but otherwise im all for it.

also we need to take time zones into account. but we can cross that bridge when we get to it.

I like the idea of a vc, I’ve always been curious about who the people I’ve been working with were.
It’s always just felt like I’ve been working with strangers, even though I know a lot about you guys.
I believe this is something that will strengthen our team. Count me in.

Since many people have finals in December and November (including me), and since that’s a long time from here, I think we should have a vc in mid october, only to discuss plans and meet the team, as well as “re-introduce” ourselves as the people we are outside the forums (not necessary for those who prefer to remain a mystery), and we could have a second vc on January, where we re-meet and pick up with this project again. At that time, it will be a new year.

I don’t exactly won’t a VC, at least, not for me. I don’t really wanna go out in the public and get noticed from many people, I just wanna live a normal life. I don’t wanna be involved in things such as doxxing and all that, and I hope you can respect my privacy. So yeah, I do think this is a good idea but don’t count me in.

is this really necessary??? i’m not comfortable showing my face on the internet. the only time i’ve done that is on youtube videos which i have now privated, and to my best online friends two years after we met, for one minute. the voice thing should just be enough.

Measures will (hopefully) be taken to make sure that only trusted members are invited to the call, but this is still a possibility.

@pumpkinhead also has a point.

It’s completely understandable that some might prefer to keep their cameras off.

We should encourage people to have their cameras on, but I don’t think it should be required.
Voice should be required, unless if someone can’t speak.

I was going to follow through with doing the character animation tomorrow, even though I didn’t finish the unrelated animation on time as I hoped. It was a surprise seeing this post.

I may or may not join the discord call, since I want to hear from you how this would solve our decrease in momentum. Not only that, but I'm also only willing to reveal my voice, since I'm both more comfortable with that and found it more appropriate.

The only thing I hope for is that IF all of us working together at the same time does not somehow distract us or anything. It’d help me for certain cause I’m sometimes distracted when I feel like I’m by myself, but I’m unsure of the others.

Regarding the discord call, would it take place in the official Wick Editor server?

that’s probably the most likely place. unless we are worried that some other wick discord member stumbles in wondering what we’re doing, then we could make a new server or group dm.

for the face thing, I understand if people don’t want to show their face. i think the problem is that we’re all just gonna be wearing a mask and sunglasses and it defeats the purpose. it is nice to see a moving face on a screen but it shouldn’t be necessary.

my main concern is actually figuring out how we can all work on one wick file at the same time. working on a project at the same time is simply not a feature in wick, and trading files is extremely messy. we can’t merge files either because as far as I can tell, the entire project is encrypted upon export and saving to a file.

I really like the idea, but in the past, this was not allowed. I think we should ask @etcanthony for recommendations on what should be the best way to accomplish that, and whether or not you are breaking forums rules.

I understand why you want to do this, it will inject new energy to the team… Also at this point some of you have become some kind of friends/family. At the same time it should be well organized, and just with a few members only, for security. Probably project leads only… probably H a document would help a lot.

For personal information safety reasons voice chatting (and all contact with forum users outside of the forums) has been strongly discouraged, as Wick Editor (and now Carnegie Mellon’s ETC) do not want to be held accountable for any malicious activity carried out anywhere online.

The problem with this rule(?) is that it is impossible to enforce, and that dedicated contributors to FFR like @Hamzah_Alani, @mlgcoolguys_1 @pumpkinhead are using Discord and have access to each other on that platform which we moderators have no control over.

In the future, I would like to expand the conversations that happen here on the forums to the Discord and to have a more active Discord server where conversation (including voice chatting) is allowed, but in the meantime I can neither approve/discourage what users of the forums do outside of the forums.

I do have to ask that the conversation about scheduling a voice chat here on the forums ends (so that the information about where/when you will meet is not public), but I cannot stop you from carrying on the conversation elsewhere if it is destined to happen, which it seems that it is.

I hope this shines a little light on the subject but will have to talk to the CMU legal team about what the best course of action moving forward will be.
